GAINESVILLE, FL – On April 8th, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Florida community members and beyond are invited to join for Gainesville’s 1st annual celebration of all things plant-based at Albert “Ray” Massey Westside Park! Featuring knowledgeable speakers, over 50 vendors/exhibitors and animal rescue groups, vegan food, humane education and literature, live entertainment, and activities for children and families, the event offers a diverse experience for all to learn about healthy, compassionate, and sustainable living.
Coordinated by Dehlia Albrecht and her team, and partnered with the non-profit Solutionary Events Inc, Gainesville VegFest has been organized under the principles of solutionary thinking and humane education. A solutionary is someone who recognizes problems that affect people, animals, or the environment and who then acts upon developing practical and effective solutions. Humane education embraces the key elements of living a full and meaningful life through making deep and conscientious connections with those we share the world with.
The goals of VegFest are to support people on their journey of learning about vegan living and to promote a vegan lifestyle in a non-judgmental, empowering, and positive environment. VegFest also supports people who have already chosen a veg lifestyle by offering validation and information to reinforce their healthy and compassionate choices.
VegFest attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Sample delicious vegan cuisine
- Meet adorable animals from the Alachua County Humane Society, CJ Acres, and other rescue groups
- Hear from professional and knowledgeable speakers
- Enjoy live performances from local musicians
- Participate in the Kids’ Activity Area featuring edible eco-paint art, paper making, music, and Solutionary Species workshops!
